SUMMER NIGHTS
For Spring/Summer 2011, designer Samantha Pleet turned auteur, compiling a cinematic-inspired lineup that director David Black captured through a haunting, moody lens. “It’s the last summer for two lovers,” says Pleet as she describes the short film that doubles as her lookbook. “Their affair can go on no longer so they capture the day to remember. She stares into the camera with heartbreak knowing that they can never see each other again.”

Making its debut at the close of The GreenShows at New York Fashion Week, Pleet’s assembly of high-waisted button-cuff shorts, flirty polka-dot bustiers, and skin-flaunting rompers promised new horizons, personal spirit quests, and adventures on the high seas. Few experiences, after all, are as universal or as galvanizing as a broken heart. Thank God, then, for the clothes.

Samantha Pleet is one of my favorite designers and she always offers something fresh and wearable. Love the shoes too!
love the little show of skin at the waist. great SS line, and utterly depressing that it’s getting cold!
